I should have known better!
After we got started and my flip flop fell off in the process (I should have known then) it didn't take long to realize the waves were in fact, much, much bigger than I had origninally thought. In fact, they were in the 8 foot range....yikes. What made matters worse, aside from not being able to see over the waves in our little boat, were the rocks that were making a different sort of wave. So we had waves coming from two directions thanks to the rocks. It beckoned me back to my recent white water rafting trip in Costa Rica -where we had a blast going over huge rocks in our rubber boat that had vents for the water to leak to out of - sadly - on our trip - the water just came over the bow and stayed in the boat. This made the boat shift and sort in different directions which ever way the water went. I was really scared that we would just get plowed over by a wave. This was the point I asked Chris to turn around. He might disagree with me, I think he looked scared too- which scared me more - and he said if we turn around we would go broadside to the waves and that would be worse....I knew he was right- and so we just got through it luckily. It was only 10 minutes, but felt like an hour - It took us all night for the adrenaline to get through our systems....
What was also funny about the trip, was that my phone was in my bag and was acting up and it must have pocket dialed Sheri and Paul at least 15 times...they heard the whole thing and thought I was bing abducted or something - so sorry you two -

14 food waves
True to form - the winds tomorrow are from the southwest (which how the island sits...is not good) and waves are supposed to be 10-14 feet high....
http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/LM/248.html?MR=1
10 to 14 feet high!!!!!!!!! and my brother just shrugs this off - so now I can't decide if I should go up to shake some sense in him and sleep on the beach in a tent in the rain or just stay in A2 for another day and hope the waves die down and let him make his own sorry decisions...crazy -
I will update the post in a couple days with photos and to let you know how we do!

how interviewing is like dating
But here are some updates -
I have had 4 different interviews since I have been back. I think they have mostly gone well, but 2 are not the right types of positions and the other 2 are in DC. I am going to DC for a 2nd interview with one and am waiting by the phone for the other one to call.
This is where the whole interview/dating anology comes into play. I actually had to leave my house for most of the day today, otherwise I would have waited by the phone all day, hoping it would ring. I want to call this organization, but that would seem to desperate, and you don't want to seem that...so I am just trying to play it cool and see what happens.....grrr...there is a reason I am not very good at dating :)
I have started to work with a spanish tutor named Daniel from Peru who taught me how to word associate words...like steering wheel....in spanish the word steering wheel is pronouced Teamon (I think that is how it is spelled, this way of learning is like hooked on phonics) and so I will now always associate steering wheels with teams on fields....you get the drift :) But...if it works, I am sticking with it!
Also, I have continued with yoga, I am going 3 times a week and trying to do it most days on my own....I had to purchase a yoga towel which is basically something you put over your mat to absorb all the sweat that I seem to drop like a faucet when I practice. I am enjoying the yoga and definitely feel my muscles getting stronger which is a great feeling. Now I have to work on my tendency to over train since I have a lot of time on my hands....yesterday I went on a 70 mile bike ride, just because.....and today all the squatting in yoga hurt!
okay - thats my update for the last two weeks!
hope all is well!
